WWII, the Greatest Generation, Does That Make Us the Esau Generation?

I hope my title at least piqued some curiousity. I

've heard and heard about how our grandparents won WWII and made the world safe..... for what? Justice Roberts spoke an unpleasant truth when he said it's not the Supreme Court's job to save us from poor choices,(or something to that effect). Our chickens really are coming home to roost. How many of your neighbors can tell you who is on "American Idol," or which brainless, talentless movie star is in what rehab, or is going through their latest divorce-du-jour, and has no idea how their Congressional Representative voted last week, or in many cases, even who their Congressman(woman)is? I've heard people castigate Justice Roberts for his vote, and while I deplore it, I realize that this is the bed we made, and are about to have to sleep in. Voter ignorance and apathy got us into our current mess, and now some of us are mad because Justice Roberts, for whatever reason, chose not to bail us out? The current occupant of the White House is not there because Roberts put him there. Nor were Reid and Pelosi somehow magically teleported into the offices they either currently or previously disgraced. WE THE PEOPLE did it, and WE THE PEOPLE have to correct it. Get mad, get motivated and stay that way. There are more of us than there are of them, but it doesn't matter if we stay home. Will we be like Esau in the Bible, and give away our birthright our ancestors fought and sacrificed and died for, for a bowl of beans? Because we have more important things to do than vote?  Politicians are our employees, not vice-versa. Unfortunately, many of our employees are apparently in need of constant adult supervision.

It's sad, when in actuality, the men that saved this great nation in world war II was the same people that started the downfall of this great nation.  These men and women came home to build a better nation, to make it "better" for their children than they had it.  It was all well and good until they started raising spoiled children with the help of Dr. Spock and his spare the rod philosophy.  We gradually became a nation with "I" trouble.  The babies of the "baby boomers"  of the 40's and 50's became the "hippies" of the 60's and 70's, the hippies of the 60's and 70's are the people who are running this nation now.  Indoctrinated through our school systems, we have lost sight of what this nation was and was intended to be by our founding fathers.  Liberalism is rampant in our school system to the point that they have usurped our constitution and taught their philosophy to our young.  "We the people" have sat by and said, "as long as they don't interfer with my life, they can do what they want".  We have "allowed" these people to ruin our nation with their garbage.  Few people truelly understand that "We the people" are the true authority in this country and have allowed these people to trample our rights to the point that our "elected" officials can lie constantly and consistantly and still remain in office, very few people, including elected officials know that by our constitution, "We the people" have the right to remove any and all of them at any time, regardless of elections.

The baby boomers have been terrible in the last 25 years regarding voting attendance and that now is being passed on to our children. My sons are 34 to 26 and they have no idea about whats going on nor when I explain it to them state"We can't change the problem" Have of the Hispanic folks at work dont know who Marco Rubio is nor his stance. They just want free stuff from Obama.

The so called greatest generation are the same one who gave us most of the problems we face with our govt by being passive and inattentive...of course they were brainwashed by a progressive media and nobody knew the difference in those days.

"Politicians are our employees, not vice-versa", gee that is exactly what I said in 72 when I was the Republican Nominee for Congress in the CA 19th CD, but they still elected their Demoncrat Master.

God bless, yours in Their Hearts,

Good assessment. You're right. When does

Government or Court "intervention" trump

personal responsibility and your duty to vote?

Mr. Penland, you are spot on about ill-informed voters.  I'm old, and I have seen a lot of things in my life.  One of the things that I have discovered is that people, when presented with an opportunity to control others, will, more likely than not, take it.  Putting a sadist with no experience in charge of a McDonald's would be most unwise; putting an Affirmative-Action narcissist in charge of a great nation is utterly stupid.  I have spoken with dozens of younger (less than thirty years old) people since the 2008 election, and almost all of them voted for 0bama.  When asked why, they reply, more or less, "Because he's cool!"

We have our media to thank for this; blacks are universally shown as honest, smart, hip, strong, clever, talented saviors of other, mostly white, people.  This doesn't even take into account the extraordinary media bias in favor of liberals in general and 0bama in particular.

We are still up against this in the coming election, and the odds for Romney winning don't look good.

Your piece is good stuff! Thank you so very much. Nearly all of us in the PAN are of the same mind about our patriotism and uniting for an election win. When we submit lofty, patriotic, comments in this particular medium, mostly we're singing to the choir. Most of us are not the folks who elected the catastrophe now in offices of federal power, we're the folks who voted for Conservatism, with the exception of any who've come aboard after experiencing the bitterness of unwise decision.

The point I'm trying to make (clumsily) is the votes of the ignorant-to-be-converted are "out there." It's darned tough to talk on the opposite side, 'matter of fact it's frustrating! It's got to be done, however.

It can be a slow, difficult, process. Those people usually aren't deep thinkers, many sneer at the mention of faith, sometimes at the mention of faith, one would think he/she is showing the image of the cross to a vampire! Those reactions come from fear and guilt, I believe.

This is the group we have to dissuade, as much as possible, from committing political suicide for the sake of restoring this republic. The Independents could be another story, many say "A pox on both political parties," but at least they're pragmatic, they realize that Obama's a bad seed, most of them anyway. 'No harm in approaching them, however.

I live in Phila., just about the most entitlement-minded city south of NYC and north of Washington, DC. It's not a good idea to flash Conservative bumper stickers on your vehicle unless it's an old M-4 tank, not around here! That means I can't promote Conservatism via the voiceless bumper sticker. It has to be a slower way, though perhaps a more "quality" way.

People have looked at me and gave me the old "I don't discuss religion or politics." One cannot be deterred by that! The only response is that at this time in our nation's history, we MUST talk about the country's problems while we still have the freedom to do so.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't! One just has to know he/she tried and the process has to be a controlled one done displaying good nature and intentions.

Most folks are shy to do "cold" calls on telephone, or "cold" approaches in person. It becomes easy enough very soon, but it can't become easy until it's started somewhere, someway. I don't think of it as "sacrifice," but rather a necessary requirement to last until Nov.2012.

Robert, Jack, Scott and Darla,

Our responsibilities do not end with JUST voting in each election (INTELLIGENTLY).   Our responsibilities carry on to screaming at our Representatives and Senators when they do stupid things - like ALLOWING prayer and the Ten Commandments and Bible reading in class to be removed from our classrooms and our courtrooms.  When we abdicated our authority as Christians to allow these things to happen ............. instead of causing an unholy, ungodly stink about them, then we as Christians gave the OK to our Nation turning away from God.

There are verses in the Bible that speak to this.

Isaiah 40:23

23 He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

And - -

Daniel 2:21

21 He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.

In this, God has given us just what we deserve, even though I still do not believe that The People voted our current "dictator in the White House" into office.  I believe that he got there by deception and fraudulent votes.  But that's what he's aiming for in the next election too.
