Standing against big government and for the people!

The Life Cycle of the United States of America

This came to me from a friend via e-mail.  I have seen it before in various forms.  Author unknown.  I share it again because it is vitally important.

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic (Greece) some 2,000 years prior [Not the correct original source, according to Snopes]:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.  A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest [democratic governed] civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.  During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

  1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
  2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
  3. From courage to liberty;
  4. From liberty to abundance;
  5. From abundance to complacency;
  6. From complacency to apathy;
  7. From apathy to dependence;
  8. From dependence back into bondage."

The Obituary follows:

The United States of America - Born 1776, Died 2012

It doesn't hurt to read this several times.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election [Olson denies authorship according to Snopes]:

Number of States won by:            Obama: 19                McCain: 29

Square miles of land won by:        Obama: 580,000        McCain: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:     Obama: 127 million    McCain: 143 million [Preliminary but not final results for Bush/Gore, not Obama/McCain election according to Snopes]

Murder rate per 100,000 residents

   in counties won by:                   Obama: 13.2             McCain: 2.1 [Exaggerated, according to Snopes]

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.  Obama territory mostly encompassed  those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..." [Not verified according to Snopes]

Olson believes the  United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some  forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

NOTE:  According to the IRS, 48% pay no income taxes.  The author's 40% needs updating. Actual unemployment is currently somewhere north of 12%. Sequestration is already causing job loss. Maryland and Virginia alone will lose 158,000 jobs from just one aerospace company according to a recent WSJ article.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Please pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

This is truly scary!

Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic.  Someone should point this out to Obama.  Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The U. S. Constitution.

There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 6, 2012.

"Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself.
There was never a democracy that did not commit suicide."

— John Adams

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely,
the inner soul of the people...
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last,
and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

— H.L. Mencken

Here is the banner I found where the person seems to have done quite a bit of research to try to verify where these 2 quotes came from (for anyone interested):

You need to stop quoting Snopes.  It's common knowledge by now that they are liberal oriented and liberal biased/corrupted.

A while ago I was trying to find these quotes to use in a flyer. I found a blog where the person had done research and said the "cycle of countries" was in a speech by a US businessman in the 1940s: Henning Webb Prentice. It was the earliest she could find of this cycle, and so she to the best of her knowledge attributed it to him. This is from another blogger:

Wisdom Of The Day: Henning Webb Prentis, Jr.

The Cycle of Nations: “From bondage to spiritual faith. From spiritual faith to great courage. From courage to liberty. From liberty to abundance. From abundance to selfishness. From selfishness to complacency. From complacency to apathy. From apathy to dependency. From dependency back again into bondage.”

 ~ Henning Webb Prentis, Jr.

* Often, the above quote is credited to Sir Alexander Fraser Tytler. However, after researching the quote, I found an excellent source of info that notes the origination of the quote to be from a speech given by Henning Webb Prentis, Jr. who was the President of  the Armstrong Cork Company and first spoken in 1943. If you would like to review the material associated with this discovery, please go HERE. For the purposes of putting the quote into full context(and saving you the time to read it on another page), here is the quote as it is taken from an excerpt of the speech…

“Paradoxically enough, the release of initiative and enterprise made possible by popular self-government ultimately generates disintegrating forces from within. Again and again after freedom has brought opportunity and some degree of plenty, the competent become selfish, luxury-loving and complacent, the incompetent and the unfortunate grow envious and covetous, and all three groups turn aside from the hard road of freedom to worship the Golden Calf of economic security. The historical cycle seems to be: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependency; and from dependency back to bondage once more.

At the stage between apathy and dependency, men always turn in fear to economic and political panaceas. New conditions, it is claimed, require new remedies. Under such circumstances, the competent citizen is certainly not a
fool if he insists upon using the compass of history when forced to sail uncharted seas. Usually so-called new remedies are not new at all.Compulsory planned economy, for example, was tried by the Chinese some three milleniums ago, and by the Romans in the early centuries of the Christian era. It was applied in Germany, Italy and Russia long before the present war broke out. Yet it is being seriously advocated today as a solution of our economic problems in the United States. Its proponents confidently assert that government can successfully plan and control all major business activity in the
nation, and still not interfere with our political freedom and our hard-won civil and religious liberties. The lessons of history all point in exactly the reverse direction. – Henning W. Prentis, Industrial Management in a Republic, p. 22″

Tell me that this one didn’t make you think for a moment?!? It sure sounds like what we’re experiencing today… and I don’t know about you but I don’t like where we are in the cycle!

...EXCEPT, Keith, if a nation loaded some fishing trawlers with nuc tipped missiles with, say, a range of 1500 miles, and parked 300 miles off the East and West coast, and then launched these missiles 300 miles above our country, spaced equally from West to East, the resulting EMP would knock out all of our electrical grid, including everything that uses electricity, including our ground based and space based monitoring systems. IT'S quite likely we WOULDN'T know who launched against us!

Comment by Keith McPhee on April 15, 2012 at 5:46pm

You do realise Chuckwagonchuckie that if China or any other country dumb enough to launch it's nukes at the United States the United States would also launch it's nukes at whatever country that launched against us. It would not be a good out come. How many other countries with nukes would also launch theirs. We would all pay the price.

...IF WE were pat the point of no return, Chuck, we wouldn't be having this conversation...
