ONE MORE TIME! Marco Rubio is NOT eligible to be POTUS or VPOTUS!!!

First off... let me make it clear that I really do like Marco Rubio. I think that he is a great Senator... but he is NOT eligible to run for President OR Vice President of the United States of America!

Come on people!!! We have spent the past 3 years trying to prove that Barack Obama is NOT eligible to be POTUS & then some of you turn right around and say that you want Marco Rubio to be the Vice Presidential candidate in 2012?!?!?!

What is wrong with you people?!?!? You all claim to be Constitution-loving American citizens... but then turn around & go completely against it. Shame on all of you that support this idea!!!

Now watch the video from Fox News where they ask Rubio if he is going to be the Vice Presidential candidate in 2012.

Senator Marco Rubio says that the top issue in the US today is jobs, jobs, jobs, but that didn’t stop Gretchen Carlson from asking Rubio about one job in particular. Dick Morris says that the GOP nominee for president has to select Rubio as a running mate in 2012 to lock up the Latino vote, referring to the situation as “an arranged marriage — the bride is chosen, the groom to be named later.” Rubio laughs it off and says he will not be the running mate in 2012 no matter how many proposals he receives.

Rubio may not be the running mate in 2012, but if he remains as cool and effective as he has been since taking office in January, he may be looking for a running mate not so far off in the future.

Citizens of the United States at the time of the adoption of the Constitution were also eligible. Otherwise, it would take a Constitutional Amendment to change the eligibility requirement. Neither Barack Obama, Marco Rubio, nor myself, we do not qualify for the exception.

When I had concerns about that and looked up the definition of 'naturalized citizen', the consensus was that if the founders meant it to be that both parents have to be citizens in order to be eligible for President, then a majority of the Presidents in our first 200 years were not eligible. So then, how does this make Rubio ineligible???

Comment by Reginald Carl Jackman on July 12, 2011 at 10:39pm: He was born in 1971 May 28 in Miami, FL, and his father naturalized in 1975 (see the certificate). That makes him a citizen, but not a "natural born citizen".

Comment by Reginald Carl Jackman on July 12, 2011 at 9:52pm: Dwain, Both parents have to be citizens at the time of birth. I'm in the same boat as Marco, my father wasn't naturalized until ten months after my birth. So I'm not eligible. My younger siblings were eligible, but not me. Darn.

In Amendment XIV of our Constitution says in part "All persons born in the United States, and are subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.

Marco Rubio was born in Miami in 1971. His parents came to the U.S. in 1956 as permanent residents and later were naturalized. He was born in the U.S. and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. If he will show his birth certificate showing he was born in the U.S., then he should be qualified. Yes there has been debate about changing the Amendment because women would come to the U.S. illegally and have a baby who was then a U.S. citizen but we haven't changed it and the 14th Amendment is the law of the land.
