CARACAS, Venezuela—Hugo Chávez, a former tank commander turned populist politician who used Venezuela's oil riches to challenge the U.S. with his fiery brand of socialism, died Tuesday from complications related to cancer. He was 58 years old.

After years of criticizing the church, kicking out Christian missionaries, assisting terrorists and praising atheists, Venezuela’s mercurial strongman, Hugo Chavez, came home from a botched cancer treatment in Cuba, then took to Venezuela’s airwaves to call out to Christ for help.

“Give me Your crown, Jesus,” the ailing autocrat proclaimed. “Give me Your cross, Your thorns so that I may bleed. But give me life, because I have more to do for this country and these people. Do not take me yet.”

“Chavez cried,” reported David Gerges for the British newspaper the Daily Mail, “and his voice broke in the televised speech made in his home of Barinas, in front of his parents and other relatives. The 57-year-old praised Jesus andcalled on God to spare his life, in an emotional speech. Chavez made his plea standing below an image of Jesus with the Crucifix. He was anchored by his mother and father who both held his hand as a priest led a prayer for his health.”

With Mr. Chávez just months into his fourth term, his death plunged Venezuela into political uncertainty. The foreign minister said Mr. Maduro, as expected, would take over for Mr. Chávez until an election is held within 30 days.

I just read the communist rant by a commentator against our oil companies. He wants to nationalized them. Take example of Exxon and Pemex, mexican nationalized oil company; the two handle about the same quantities of petroleum. Exxon has 80,000 employees, while Pemex employs 320,000.

Sean Penn, a great admirer of the late Venezuelan communist dictator Hugo Chavez, accused the American media of going after Chavez and telling lies about him. The actor’s love of Chavez became so embarrassing to some in Hollywood that Matt Stone and Trey Parker savagely lampooned him in their movie "Team America: World Police" - a parody that infuriated the star. Penn had plenty of company when it came to his Chavez worship. Other unabashed admirers included Kevin Spacey, Danny Glover, Oliver Stone, Harry Belafonte, Naomi Campbell, and Professor Cornel West. Belafonte was telling Chavez how “millions’’ of Americans supported him. Boxing promoter Don King praised Chavez and his revolution: "To see what is happening there makes me feel good all over.” This former refugee from a communist hell can understand well their enthusiasm for Chavez since Stalin and Mao were dead and therefore not so readily available for their admiration and respect. Not the least among Chavez admirers and friends has been our President Obama, exchanging with the dictator hearty “abrazos”.

I am certainly no fan of this person, however he did one thing that I believe needs to be done in this country. He nationalized the oil industry, reducing cost to the people and even though he stole 2 billion, that is a drop in the bucket compared to what the oil companies steal from us. The oil in the groun belongs rightfully to the people and not Shell, Exon or any other big business. Reduce the price of fuel and the cost of everything else will come down.

If he truly converted to faith in Christ he would have publicly repudiated his past. Me thinks the answer to his public request to God was "mene, mene, tekel"

He loved the poor so much he created millions of them while transferring the wealth to himself and his minions. He died with a net worth of 2 billion. This mans political career mirrors that of the LIAR-IN-CHIEF of the U.S.
