President nObama now claims that 4 million people have signed up for nObamaCare. That’s far below the number of policies cancelled under the law, so it’s not too surprising that there would be a market for the program. It’s also far below the 7 million enrollments to which the administration once aspired. Plus, based on the president’s track record on nObamaCare statistics, we can have relatively little confidence in this number. But however many millions of people have voluntarily complied with the law, we certainly don’t know how many of them have actually paid for policies or obtained coverage. It’s a mess the magnitude of which we will only start to understand in the months after the current enrollment drive ends on March 31. But here’s something we do know: Whatever the enrollment numbers, the president and his team will call it a victory – as Vice President Joe Biden said, “a hell of a start.” The wonk patrol is testing administration assumptions and warning that these crummy numbers could damage the overall viability of the law. They’re missing the point, though. Once it was clear that the implementation of nObamaCare would be this ghastly, victory was off the table. The name of the game now: survive and advance. - Fox News
That was then - “Well, I think success looks like at least seven million people having signed up by the end of March 2014.”—Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to NBC News, Sept. 2013.
This is now - “First of all, seven million was not the administration. That was a CBO, Congressional Budget Office, prediction when the bill was first signed. I'm not sure where they even got their numbers.” – Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to Huffington Post Tuesday. - Fox News

nObamaCare tax hits pediatric research - Daily Caller: “The world’s only company specializing in making orthopedic equipment for children is slashing its product development budget and freezing hiring as a result of nObamacare’s medical device tax. ‘We are a company that is not yet profitable. We’ve only been in the market for 5 years. This is a very burdensome tax because it is based on sales, not profits, and the only way we can pay a tax like this is to cut expenses,’ OrthoPediatrics CEO Mark Throdahl told The Daily Caller.”  - Fox News

Are House Republicans ready to take the president to court over his executive overreach? That’s the question before Congress today as Rep. Tom Rice, R-S.C., testifies about his legislation that would put before a judge the constitutionality of the president’s ever-expanding claim to greater executive power. Previewing his testimony today in
an appearance on “The Kelly File,” Rice said “If the judge finds the president’s actions unconstitutional then those actions will be null and void.” So how do Republicans get there? - Fox News

Ready to take the plunge? - Rice wants his colleagues to back a resolution finding that nObama has not faithfully executed his own health law, most notably in ignoring regulations that might make nObamaCare even more damaging.  As Rice told Megyn Kelly, “The president has no right to delay a tax. He has no right to say that this group of people doesn’t have to pay the tax.” But if Rice prevails, Republicans would be in the position of arguing in court on behalf of destructive taxes, regulations and fines that would be imposed retroactively. Sounds pretty punitive for a party that bills itself as the nation’s deliverance from the troubled health law. Perhaps nObama would relent and agree to sign legislation delaying the entire law if that were so, but the result would be a high-stakes game of chicken with a president who proved during the partial government shutdown last year that he does not mind bringing the pain. - Fox News

Politico: “A trove of Clinton White House records long processed for release remains hidden from public view at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock — even though the legal basis initially used to withhold them expired more than a year ago. The papers contain confidential advice given to or sought by President Bill Clinton, including communications with then-first lady dHillarious Clinton, and records about people considered for appointments to federal office. About 33,000 pages of documents are involved, according to the National Archives, which runs the library. Under the Presidential Records Act, such records can be withheld for up to 12 years after a president leaves office. However, at the 12-year mark, those broad restrictions fall away and the once-secret presidential papers are generally subject to disclosure. For the Clinton files, that milestone came and went in January 2013.The long-sealed records pose a delicate series of choices for the Clintons, and even President Barack nObama. They could allow disclosure of the papers, fueling new stories about old controversies like Whitewater and pardons granted as the 42nd president left office in 2001. Or they could fight to keep some or all of the files secret, likely triggering a court battle and stoking concerns that the former president and his wife are unduly secretive…  an official with the current White House said Tuesday afternoon that a large batch of the formerly withheld Clinton records should emerge soon.‘The White House has cleared a significant number of P2/P5 Clinton documents … roughly 25,000 pages,’ said the nObama aide, citing the legal designations originally used to withhold the records. The aide, who asked not to be named, did not say precisely when that clearance was given. However, he added: ‘There have been no executive privilege assertions on Clinton materials to date.’’’ - Fox News

The Hill: “Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Tuesday wouldn’t rule out running for the White House in 2016 against his one-time political mentor, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R)… ‘I haven’t given any consideration how that would play out, but my decision would be based on me, not what anybody else decides,’ Rubio said on CNN… ‘“If I think I can make a difference in that, from that office, to lead us in that direction, that is something I’d have to strongly consider, but that probably won’t happen until later this year or early next year.”’ - Fox News
Government Power is an Economic Inequality
The liberal defenders of government power attack concentrations of wealth, but in the true concentration of wealth is not found in the hands of a few billionaires, but in the hands of the government...The editorialists talk about income inequality and the 1 percent, but they focus on individuals rather than institutions,  and it is the concentration of wealth and power in institutions that threaten civil liberties.
IRS Warns: n Obamacare Tax Must Be Paid with Tax Return
President nObama’s Internal Revenue Service today quietly released a series of nObamacare “Health Care Tax Tips” warning Americans that they must obtain “qualifying” health defined by the federal government – or face a “shared responsibility payment” when filing their tax returns in 2015. The term “shared responsibility payment” refers to the nObamacare individual mandate tax, one of at least seven tax hikes in the healthcare law that directly hit families making less than $250,000 per year.
nObama orders Pentagon prepare for full troop withdrawal
Barack nObama formally ordered the Pentagon on Tuesday to make plans for a full pullout of American troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year...pointing to a way out of the conflict that is reminiscent of his end to the Iraq campaign. While the nObama administration reiterated that it would prefer to maintain a residual military presence in Afghanistan, the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has refused to sign an accord that would pave the way for some US forces to remain. That has forced the administration to begin a contingency plan for a full departure after Nato formally ends hostilities in November. A similar rebuke from the Iraqi government prompted all almost all US troops to leave there in 2011.
dinky Reid stalling action on minimum wage
Senate Majority Leader dinky Harry Reid on Tuesday delayed action on legislation raising the minimum wage, the centerpiece of the Democrats’ 2014 agenda...The Nevada Democrat made the surprising move amid escalating Democratic resistance in the wake of a Congressional Budget Office report released last week estimating that hiking the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour could cost the equivalent of 500,000 jobs by late 2016. dinky Reid has not yet unified his caucus on the issue, which is a constant in the Democrats’ election-year playbook. Of the 55 senators who caucus with the Democrats, only 32 have signed on as official co-sponsors of Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-Iowa) bill. I'm sure they'll blame the Republicans.
nObama Administration Ignores Russian Nuclear Violations
Russia is covertly developing and testing nuclear missiles in violation of the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and the nObama administration to date has failed to hold Moscow accountable, according to arms control specialists... “The Russians have basically violated every major treaty they’ve ever entered into, certainly every major weapons treaty,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees. He is also a leader of a Senate arms control group. The comments were made at a panel discussion Tuesday at the Heritage Foundation on Russian violations of the INF treaty. What do you expect from this administration.
UN Plotting to “Dramatically Alter” Your Views and Behavior
The United Nations is currently working on a far-reaching plot, developed with radical nObama administration policy architect John “profoundly and dramatically” alter your "worldview" in the name of shackling humanity under a UN-managed “universal sustainable development agenda.” According to the controversial report produced for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon by a team of establishment “eminent persons,” within the next six years, no realm of the human experience will escape the “profound transformation” toward “a new paradigm” demanded by globalist bureaucrats. The UN document, while packed with contradictory machinations, essentially outlines what establishment proponents of global government have long described as a “New World Order.” In essence, the UN panel called for a top-down restructuring of human civilization under the guise of tackling poverty, “unsustainable” activities, and “climate change.” The international outfit and its mostly dictatorial member regimes will set the agenda, with regional, national, and sub-national governments expected to foist it on humanity. Literally every person on Earth must submit and contribute, the planetary establishment claimed on multiple occasions in the radical document. It was not immediately clear what would happen with those who refuse.
Squat this! U.S. property taken in name of Allah
You may have missed this chapter in Black History Month: In 1787, a bunch of people signed a bunch of agreements that said black people are not required to obey American laws because they are really citizens of Morocco, not the United States...Today, members of the Moorish Nation claim this entitles black people to move into empty houses without paying (don’t call it squatting!), create their own license plates, issue their own drivers licenses, print their own property titles and claim sovereign immunity when they get arrested. All without success, so far. But they keep trying all over the country.
Federal judge strikes down Texas ban on gay marriage
A federal judge has struck down Texas' ban on gay marriage, but is leaving it in place pending a ruling by an appeals court later this year...Judge Orlando Garcia issued a preliminary injunction on the ban Wednesday, then suspended his ruling. Two gay couples had challenged the state's constitutional amendment and a longstanding law banning gay marriage. Under federal court rules, a judge may suspend a law if he or she believes the plaintiffs have a strong case and will suffer if the law is enforced.
 Tax Reform at Last?
Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R) of Michigan jumpstarts the tax reform debate. It’s about time. The tax code stables in Washington haven’t been cleaned out since 1986...more than a quarter century ago, when Ronald Reagan was President. Since then, year after year, the tax code gets engrafted with more special interest loopholes, credits, and carve-outs. Not only is this unfair to those without lobbyists, it makes the tax code mindlessly complex—a job security program for tax lawyers and accountants. Worse yet, back in the 1980s, the U.S. had among the lowest income tax rates on businesses in the world. Today, our small and large businesses pay among the highest rates.
 Concealing Evil
Evil acts are given an aura of moral legitimacy by noble-sounding socialistic expressions, such as spreading the wealth, income redistribution, caring for the less fortunate, and the will of the majority...Let's have a thought experiment to consider just how much Americans sanction evil. Would you support a government mandate that forces you or one of your neighbors to mow these elderly widows' lawns, clean their windows and perform other household tasks? Moreover, if the person so ordered failed to obey the government mandate, would you approve of some sort of sanction, such as fines, property confiscation or imprisonment? I'm hoping, and I believe, that most of my fellow Americans would condemn such a mandate. They'd agree that it would be a form of slavery -- namely, the forcible use of one person to serve the purposes of another.

As you may have heard, an Academy Award nomination for the title song from the movie “Alone Yet Not Alone” has been rescinded. Naturally, even the Motion Picture Academy lacked the nerve to say it was because the song and the low-budget film promoted Christian values. Instead, they insisted it was because emails had been used to help promote the song to Academy voters. That’s the sort of bald-faced lie that should even have secular liberals in Hollywood chuckling.

The fact is that everyone in Hollywood campaigns for nominations and awards. It would take a Jesuit to explain why it is okay to mail DVDs to voters and to take out any number of ads in the Hollywood trade papers, but employing the far less expensive alternative of emails is strictly verboten.

The irony is that the person who sings the song, Joni Eareckson Tada, is the sort of person Hollywood loves to make schmaltzy movies about. A quadriplegic, Ms. Tada taught herself to paint by holding a paint brush between her teeth, and is also an author and inspirational speaker. I can assure one and all that her appearance at the Academy Awards would have been far likelier to stop the show than any of the over-produced laser-enhanced dance numbers they come up with year after year, courtesy of choreographer Debbie Allen.

I suppose there are still some people who don’t believe that Hollywood is at war with Christianity, just as there are those who are convinced that Islam’s war with western civilization is a fantasy concocted by conservatives.

Over at NBC, somebody should tell Bob Costas that when you’re 62, your toupee should have at least a smidgen of gray in it. But the rug aside, Mr. Costas actually spent several minutes of air time smooching Vladimir Putin’s heinie. Unless he feared being tossed in a gulag while covering the Olympics, there is no explaining why he felt compelled to describe Putin as a peacekeeper who has done God’s work in Syria and Iran. Fox’s Kimberly Guilfoyle summed it up as “a gigantic man crush.” But it may be something as simple as both of them being opposed to the Second Amendment.

Russia’s deputy prime minister announced they had surveillance cameras in hotel bathrooms that showed tourists were turning on their showers, aiming them at the walls and then leaving the room. Later, Russia’s version of Jay Carney said he had been mistranslated. My initial reaction is that nobody has ever mistranslated “surveillance cameras.” My second reaction after having seen the toxic waste coming out of those showerheads was surprise that the walls survived the chemical blast.

As for Putin, he spent several billion rubles in order to introduce the new Russia to the world, proving only that, one, he is as adept at wasting other people’s money as Barack nObama and, two, that the new Russia apparently looks and smells a lot like the old Russia. The only thing that ever changes over there is the name of the dictator.

Speaking of he who is the most dangerous demagogue in American history, nObama and his favorite henchman, Eric Holder, have rolled out the red, white and blue carpet to those people from the swamps of the Middle East who have “only a tangential connection to terrorists.” The question that leaps to mind isn’t how and who decides the difference between actual terrorists and those who merely aid and abet them, but why on earth do we need additional immigrants from nations that breed jihadists the way Holland breeds tulips?

What’s more, there has been found to be fraud involved in 70% of the cases involving political asylum, most notably in the case of the Boston-bombing Tsarnaevs.

Proving that the world doesn’t exactly quake in fear when nObama speaks, no sooner had the Pipsqueak-in-Chief called for North Korea to release Reverend Kenneth Bae than the poor guy was promptly transferred from a hospital to a labor camp.

On the other hand, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, in one of those rare inspiring moments in the world of diplomacy, apparently said, “F--- the European Union!”

Inasmuch as the two things one can safely say about the EU is that Germany, France, Spain and its other spineless members are willing to kiss Iran’s heinie and will take every opportunity to collude with Arabs and Muslims against Israel, I would love to see her replace her boss, dunce John Kerry, who could then be retired once and for all to stud duty at a horse ranch.

By the way, she made her remark during a private phone call to our ambassador to the Ukraine, a conversation that was tapped by the Russians. It makes you wonder if the Russkies also have any of those pesky surveillance cameras in Ms. Nuland’s bathroom.

In the wake of the government report that nObamaCare will eliminate well over two million jobs, the Democrats rushed to spin the news, telling us that all those people would be free to pursue their dreams, unless, of course, their dreams consisted of having a fulltime job and making a decent living.

It is merely the latest case of life imitating art, in this case a comic strip. “The Wizard of Id” ran a strip a while back in which the little wizard is standing on his balcony, addressing the crowd below. He says, “Elect me and I promise you free health care, free housing, free clothing and free food stamps! And jobs for everybody! Any questions?” “Yes,” responds a voice from below, “what do we need jobs for?”

In nObama’s America, the short answer is that half of us need to keep working so that the freeloading half that vote for Democrats needn’t bother.
