The favorite target of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s fury and Democratic fundraising efforts, Charles Koch offers his solution for unemployment and economic growth. In a USA Today OpEd the CEO of Koch industries writes, “Our government’s decades-long, top-down approach to job creation has failed. Its policies have made our problems worse, leaving tens of millions chronically un- or underemployed, millions of whom have given up ever finding meaningful work. In doing so, our government has not only thwarted real job creation, it also has reduced the supply and quality of goods and services that make people’s lives better and undermined the culture required to sustain a free society. When it comes to creating opportunities for all, we can do much better. It's time to let people seek opportunities that best suit their talents, for businesses to forsake cronyism and for government to get out of the way.  -Fox News

“In the United States, it is very different. Anti-Semitism is not a major factor here. You know, of all the countries that the Jews have lived in these 2,000 years, this is the most tolerant, friendly, loving country that the Jews have ever known. What I think is the most important factor here is sheer, raw ignorance. They have no idea what Hamas is… They have no idea, for example, that there is no occupation in Gaza. You’ll hear them talk about Gaza being occupied. The Israelis left in 2005. They tore out their settlements. There’s not a settler, there’s not a soldier, there is not a Jew left in Gaza. Do any of these people know it? No.”—Charles Krauthammer

When Asked About Executive Power, nObama Mentions Constitution
Barack nObama was asked by ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, "Has Congress' inability to do anything significant given you a green light to push the limits of executive power?" nObama even managed to mention the word "Constitution" in his response. nObama replied, "I never have a green light. I'm bound by the Constitution. I'm bound by the separation of powers." But then he skittered off into imperial-president land as he continued. "What I'm consistently going to do is, whenever I have the legal authorities to make progress on behalf of the middle class and folks working to get to the middle class. … I'm going to seize those opportunities and that's what I think the American people expect me to do." Ha! nObama said "legal authorities!" He should reread Article 2 Section 3 of the Constitution and remember that it grants him legal authority to "take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed" and reconsider his actions on, say, immigration.  Russia May Be Preparing to Invade Ukraine
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine reached a new level of concern after NATO warned that Russian troops amassed on the Ukrainian border may be preparing for a military offensive. NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu said, "We're not going to guess what's on Russia's mind, but we can see what Russia is doing on the ground -- and that is of great concern. Russia has amassed around 20,000 combat-ready troops on Ukraine's eastern border." She adds Russia may be preparing to exploit "a humanitarian or peace-keeping mission as an excuse to send troops into Eastern Ukraine." Recent events explain Russia's behavior. According to Reuters, "With fighting escalating and rebels losing ground in the weeks since a Malaysian airliner was shot down over separatist-held territory, Russia has announced military exercises this week in the border region." Russian President Vladimir Putin won't sit idly by while Ukraine makes gains. The question is: What kind of sternly worded warning will the nObama administration send this time?  Hanoi Kerry: More Farmland Exacerbated Global Warming
State Secretary Hanoi John Kerry, addressing the U.S.-Africa Summit, claimed that global warming will be worsened by developing more farms and praised Africa for limiting the amount of land allocated for agriculture. "Certain agricultural processes can actually release carbon pollution and help contribute to the problem [of global warming] in the first place," he explained. "It's a twisted circle. Always complicated. But we also know there are ways to change that. For example, rather than convert natural areas to new farmland -- a process that typically releases significant amounts of carbon pollution -- we can instead concentrate our efforts on making existing farmlands more productive. Now this is an area where African leaders have actually been ... significantly ahead of the game for some time." Yes, and that's evidently worked quite well for poor, hungry Africans and their economies.  -The Patriot Post

Still Awaiting Comments From nObama on Maj. Gen. Greene
On Tuesday, the news broke that Maj. Gen. Harold Greene died in a "green on blue" attack in Afghanistan. That day, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated, "The thoughts and prayers of those of us here at the White House are with the family of the general, are with the soldiers and the family of those who were injured in this attack." But that was it from the White House. An officer falls in a foreign field, the highest-ranking officer since 9/11, and Barack Obama himself has remained mum. Like his administration's cover-up of the Benghazi attack in 2012, this green on blue attack doesn't fit Obama's foreign policy narrative. More…

Dearborn residents on terrorist watch list second only to New York
“At 96,000 residents, Dearborn is much smaller than the other cities in the top five, suggesting that its significant Muslim population—40 percent of its population is of Arab descent...according to the U.S. Census Bureau—has been disproportionately targeted for watchlisting.” Hamas-linked CAIR is already manning the barricades over this, but after all, there is no effect without a cause. The idea that the Muslim residents of Dearborn were “disproportionately targeted for watchlisting” because of some official “racism” and “Islamophobia” is howlingly absurd. There is jihad activity among Muslims, including in the U.S., and so for authorities to be alert to that fact is entirely reasonable. Its about time. utm_source=Jihad+Watch+Daily+Digest&utm_campaign=fe1bfc6b13-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ffcbf57bbb-fe1bfc6b13-123451509
 Genocide in Northern Iraq
You might well remember in 2011 when Senior Foreign Policy Advisor, Samantha Power, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, Secretary dHillarious Clinton and President Barack nObama created the nObama Doctrine... “Responsibility To Protect” (R2P) as they demanded intervention to defend al-Qaeda “rebels” in Benghazi Libya …“To brush aside America’s responsibility as a leader and -more profoundly- our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are.  Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries.  The United States of America is differentAnd as President, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.”…Stranded on a barren mountaintop, thousands of minority Iraqis are faced with a bleak choice: descend and risk slaughter at the hands of the encircled Sunni extremists or sit tight and risk dying of thirst...Humanitarian agencies said Tuesday that between 10,000 and 40,000 civilians remain trapped on Mount Sinjar since being driven out of surrounding villages and the town of Sinjar two days earlier. But the mountain that had looked like a refuge is becoming a graveyard for their children.
nObama announces $12B in new aid to Africa power sector
President nObama unveiled $12 billion in new pledges from the private sector and government institutions on Tuesday to help strengthen Africa's electric power infrastructure...The new commitments to nObama's Power Africa initiative, which the president launched last year, bring total funding of the program to more than $26 billion, according to a White House fact sheet. The initiative is meant to make sure the continent adds 30,000 megawatts of additional capacity and expand access to electricity to at least 60 million households and business. And yet he is willing to destroy the U. S. electric power infrastructure by attacking the coal, gas and oil.
Distorting the Facts About the “Do Nothing Congress”
This past weekend’s Sunday morning talk shows were abuzz about how the House Republicans are in disarray, and that they are re-defining the concept of a “do nothing Congress.”...NBC Chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd said on “Meet the Press:” “The Democrats are starting to feel like they have something to run on, or run against. Take the House Republicans and their own struggle to pass even small bills, like one to deal with the emergency at the border.” On Friday afternoon President Barack nObama held a press briefing at which he once again complained that the Republicans refuse to pass anything significant, thus compelling him to take matters into his own hands. Yet the Republicans did pass a bill addressing the border crisis before starting their five-week recess, while the Democratic-run Senate left for its five-week recess without passing anything to address that issue.
Off the Radar, nObamacare Festers Away
The president’s signature law is still a disaster-and it only gets worse. Thanks to rockets rising over Gaza, jet debris falling onto Ukraine, and children wading across the Rio Grande, Americans barely have had time to focus on nObamacare...Mounting global and domestic chaos, however, cannot mask forever the deep and severe flaws in nObama’s pet program. From insurance cancellations to premium increases to gross ineptness, nObamacare likely will roar back into the news, just in time to stymie Democrats at the midterm election. Just the other day, I opened an envelope from Easy Choice Health Insurance. “IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING YOUR POLICY,” the letter trumpeted. “We are writing to let you know that your health insurance coverage through Easy Choice Health Plan of New York (‘Easy Choice’) will be terminated no later than December 31, 2014,” it stated. Moreover, “Easy Choice will no longer be offering your policy or participating in New York’s commercial health insurance market.”
Creating more farms in Africa causes too much carbon
Yes, he really believes this. In this recent speech to the African Summit leaders Hanoi John Kerry tells the audience Africa should not start farms to feed its people. Unreal. Allow children to starve because they’ll be saved from the perils of a non-existent fear...
Hamas Group Complains about U.S. Tax Dollars helping Israel
Nihad Awad, the Executive Director of Hamas front group CAIR spoke at a pro-Hamas rally in Washington, DC (video below) and expressed outrage over a lie that Palestinians are “being slaughtered” with his U.S. taxpayer dollars (h/t BNI)...The truth is that Palestinians are being slaughtered by Hamas so stealth jihadists like Awad can blame Israel. Awad’s outrage is even more outrageous because CAIR received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in 2007 when disgraced IRS official Lois Lerner signed the group’s approval letter in 2007.
Feinstein: White House Trying to Obscure Facts in CIA Report
A report by the Senate Intelligence Committee detailing the CIA's rendition, detention, and interrogation program during the George W. Bush administration is being further delayed over a dispute involving how much of the report has been censored, The New York Times reported...California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that censorship by the Obama administration, which put the CIA in charge of clearing the report, was so heavy-handed that items which should have been left in were expunged. Among the items removed were successful methods that the CIA used to gather information that did not rely on torture, and the pseudonyms of CIA officers who engaged in the controversial interrogations.

IRS Abolishes Mandatory Expiration Dates For Illegals Taxpayer
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) quietly changed regulations to allow more undocumented immigrants to keep their taxpayer status through a program that is rife with fraud and abuse, and to delay deactivation of immigrant taxpayer status until 2016...The IRS now prevents peoples’ Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) from automatically expiring after five years as previously mandated. Now immigrants can keep their ITIN so long as they pay taxes at least once in a five-year period. “The IRS will not deactivate an ITIN that has been used on at least one tax return in the past five years,” the IRS said in an explainer of the new policy. “To give all interested parties time to adjust and allow the IRS to reprogram its systems, the IRS will not begin deactivating ITINs until 2016…The new, more uniform policy applies to any ITIN, regardless of when it was issued.”,48782

And The War Came
Paul Greenberg
The innocent American could only read the headlines and shake his head sorrowfully at the continuing carnage in Gaza -- a pillar of fire by night and a cloud of smoke by day. How did this happen again? Simple: Hamas renewed its indiscriminate attacks on Israel through overhead rockets, underground tunnels, words and deeds -- and Israel finally responded in force.

Not just the innocent but the sophisticated observer has to wonder: Why? What's the sense of it? There seems none from the rational -- that is, the conventionally Western -- point of view. Which may explain why generations of Western diplomats, denizens of think tanks, and Deep Thinkers in general, have failed to make sense of this ever-renewed conflict, let alone end it.

All these modern Panglosses come off as hopelessly naive as Hanoi John Kerry, and as completely ineffectual as dHillaryious Clinton -- the last two secretaries of state to preside over American foreign policy in that always dangerous part of the world. And both succeeded mainly in making it more dangerous.

Despite all the years of negotiations, hopeful beginnings that prove false starts, agreements that no one may agree with soon enough, temporary truces that prove all too temporary, the missiles and rockets soon fly again. And we're all back to reading, and some of us may even have to write about, the latest war in the Middle East as the bodies pile up. The place has been a trap since the days of Samson and the Philistines, and a trap it remains. Even if this latest temporary truce had held, it was fated to be only temporary.

Despite the best intentions of all, naive or knowledgeable, who cry Peace, Peace ... there is no peace. For the violent bear it away time and time again. Violence seems as endemic to Gaza as its heat and flies. And its wars.

Why? Surely it doesn't have to be this way, and yet the war came. Why? At such times the heretical thought occurs that, yes, it does have to be this way, for there are some conflicts that are by their nature irreconcilable, irrepressible and therefore unavoidable, even inevitable.

Unacceptable as so heretical a thought has become in the more nicefied precincts of the West, it keeps recurring. Lest we forget, there was a time when Western civilization, too, was split by holy wars fueled by religious fervor. It was not until 1648 that the treaties of Westphalia put an end to the Thirty Years' War and its slaughter by assigning disputed principalities to the formal faith of their sovereigns. But even after religious wars no longer divided Europe, they became national and ideological in character, and even deadlier.

One such irrepressible conflict finally bubbled to the surface even on these supposedly peaceful shores, and could no longer be put off any longer -- despite the best efforts of statesmen whose talents far exceeded those of the present generation's. Statesmen like Daniel Webster, John C. Calhoun and the great compromiser himself, Henry Clay. Yet all failed to put off the Irreconcilable Conflict forever. And the war came.

The saddest and most vicious breed of war, civil war, would ravage a no longer United States of America, and neither North nor South would emerge as they were before. The old republic would be forever gone, replaced by one nation indivisible, the old South dead. However much nostalgists miss it, and lovers of freedom hated it, the antebellum South is beyond reviving. War can change things, sometimes definitively. It did the Union, even though it now goes by the same name.

Many and complex reasons are still adduced by historians who, in the way of historians, can be relied on to come up with still another explanation for the Civil War in every generation. For it remains the central tragedy of American history. It was left to one of those earlier statesmen, to sum up in a few words the cause of that irrepressible conflict. Abraham Lincoln did it in his second inaugural address. With its concise clarity and Biblical overtones, it still echoes and re-echoes in time because of its eloquence and understanding -- and simplicity:

"On the occasion corresponding to this four years ago, all thoughts were anxiously directed to an impending civil war. All dreaded it -- all sought to avert it. ... Both parties deprecated war; but one of them would make war rather than let the nation survive, and the other would accept war rather than let it perish. And the war came."

Some conflicts are as simple as they are terrible. In today's continuing, and surely to be continued, war between Hamas and Israel, one party would make war rather than let a nation survive, while the other would accept war rather than let it perish. Which is why so many Israelis seem to recognize that this is all part of one long existential war, that is, a war concerned with their nation's very existence. And that some conflicts will not be settled till they are settled by force.

That is the irreconcilable, the undeniable, obdurate essence of a war that may make no sense from afar, but whose outcome, in this round or any that follow, makes all too much sense to both sides. To one, nothing but the obliteration of the other would be an acceptable outcome of the whole, long struggle. Hamas' very charter, its constitution, its founding document, says so. The other, Israel, feels its very survival is at stake, and is not about to cooperate in its own extinction. And the war came.
