Cold War Rematch in Kiev!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a striking example of Cold War redux, the Ukraine has emerged as the latest geopolitical flashpoint between Russia and the United States, with Western Europe playing a secondary role. Ukrainians are caught in a tug of war, with Ukrainians in the eastern portion of Ukraine more aligned with Russia, and Ukrainians in the western portion of the country wanting to move closer to the democratic model of Western Europe and the United States. Protesters against the repressive government of Ukraine’s President Viktor F. Yanukovych are fighting for more freedoms within the structure of a pluralistic democracy, including checks on presidential powers. With the likely tacit blessing of autocratic Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is no stranger to using force to put down dissent, Yanukovych’s government has pushed back with increasingly repressive measures.

Who said the cold war ever ended.  There was a brief respite during the first George Bush.  All of that was lost under Clintion who made no effort to aid the fledgling democracy and everything to cripple it.  In comes Putin, an ex-KGB man.  Since he came to power: numerous murders, assassinations, disappearances to gulags, two full fledged wars with one loss and one victory over Chechnya.  The second war was justified by a bombing ordered by Putin on a Moscow apartment building and blaming it on Chechen terrorists.  Proof of this escaped to London with a former Russian FSS Officer Alexander Litvinenkowho was quickly murdered by plutonium poisoning.  Putin supposedly had a fair election and Dmitry Medvedev was made President.  Putin took a lesser title but still held the reigns of power as Medvedev was only a puppet.  Eventually it was time for another shame election and Putin won the Presidency again, there haven't been any challengers who've survived since.

Later the mysterious death of Poland's President in a plane crash after reopening the Katyn massacre.  Then there was the poisoning of Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko with TCDD the most potent dioxin and a contaminant in Agent Orange.

Let us not forget Russia's invasion of Georgia in 2008, thwarted by the second George Bush.  The Cold War is very much alive and Putin has been given a free hand by Obama.
