Standing against big government and for the people!
Starting on the 11th of June with fast Carrier Strikes, destroying 36 Japanese aircraft on the three Islands of Guam, Tinian and Saipan. Culminating in the landings on Saipan at Charan Kanoa on the morning of the 15th. Then on the 19th the Battle of Philippine Sea heats up with the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot.
Over a thousand miles from their bases, to a Japanese stronghold deep in the Pacific. Air superiority for the American fleet was only local around the US carrier group covering for the Invasion force. Land based aircraft, submarines and the Japanese Navy opposed the operation. When troops were finally put ashore they faced everything the entrenched Japanese had in their arsenal, including one of the few Tank battles outside of the Philippines. The battle for Saipan continued until July 9th, but holdouts were rooted out for another three weeks following the end of the campaign for the island.
The next to fall was Tinian, 25 July to 2 August.
Guam an American possession lost in the first month of the war was the last of the three Islands to be captured, landing at two beaches on 21 July the island was captured on August 10th.
