Standing against big government and for the people!

10 Easy Tips How to Swing the Balance of Power from the Crony Corporatists back to you.

  1. Do not borrow money from banks, stop using credit cards and use cash or debit card only.
  2. Learn how to barter for goods.
  3. Shop and trade at locally owned businesses
  4. Avoid as much as possible Large Franchises that sell mostly imported products (look for the made in America label)
  5. Garden… Grow as much food at home as you can
  6. Buy used, reconditioned, refurbished instead of brand new
  7. Start a local business producing real physical goods and sell locally
  8. Recycle old items and freecycle unneeded items.
  9. Avoid fast food and larger restaurant chains
  10. Get everyone you know involved, especially those in your neighborhood (which means you might have to get to actually know your neighbors)

Fighting with your wallet is the only way to get their attention. They need you far more than you need them. Through advertising they have convinced you through repetitions conditioning that you need their mediocre products.

Logically, if the products they advertise were everything they claim they are; why would they need to spend millions of dollars per quarter trying to convince you???? Word of mouth is the best most effective form of advertising and it was a core tenet that the free market was built on. If it doesn’t work, people won’t buy and they tell their friends and so on, the reverse is true as well. Think about that the next time a catchy jingle from a commercial gets in your head.

Keeping the money circulating locally helps lower inflation, and taxes by keeping local workers and manufacturers employed. Employed people pay taxes, employed local people help keep both the local and national economy going. We may save a little more in the short term buying from COSTCO or a major franchise chain, but those savings end up getting swallowed up in taxes which go to unemployment entitlements, infrastructure, etc.

Ultimately you have to do what works for you, but if you are tired of the way things are, feel like others are controlling what you can buy, how you buy, etc. – making this paradigm shift in lifestyle can help balance the power and give you more control over your life.

While I agree with your underlying goal, I take issue with the statement to avoid stores like Costco (which by the way when stores have a number of locations - those are not "franchises.") where you state that the "savings end up getting swallowed up in taxes..."  Savings do not get swallowed up in taxes.  You pay taxes on your income and when your state collects sales tax it is on the amount purchases, so if you save, you actually pay less in sales tax, and you've already been taxed on the income so where you shop is not germane to income tax!  Just so you know, a "franchise" is when a person wants to say open a McDonalds.  He or she has to buy a franchise license from McD's corporation and adhere to McD's procedures, design, menu, etc.  as it is "copycat" of the original.  Norhing wrong with that as a local citizen will reap the benefits of owning a small business in their local community and its success is much higher than starting a small business without that support or name recognition.  Most non-franchise small businesses are out of business within 5 years.
