Creating Our Own Nightmares DNC vs Unions and OWS

How many times do you think in your life that you would be grateful for a hurricane. Isaac, which means laughter according to biblical definition, threatened the Republican party convention as he roared towards the Florida coast only to briefly brush it as it swerved west towards Lousianna. As last minute preparations were to scale back the first night of the convention, people questioned the wisdom of holding the RNC convention in a hurricane vulnerable city during hurricane season.

As it turns out...a stroke of genius even though not intended. Because of the approaching Isaac, the RNC was able to laugh at the aborted Occupy Wall St threats of disruption and protests. While there were some issues with those OWS followers that did show up, activity was kept to a minum as those protesters who planned to make the trek to Tampa abandoned their plans as Isaac approached the coast.

The day before the convention was set to begin, social justice activists began with protests in both Tampa and nearby St. Petersburg. Seven activists were ejected from the Tampa Theater for chanting and hanging banners stating "Working Families"during a speech by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker at Ralph Reed's Faith & Freedom Coalition event. In the week preceeding the convention, pipes and bricks were found on the roof top of the Federal Court House just two blocks down from the convention area. The bricks and pipes looked like a stash that was hidden there and security officials were scrambling to see if a link existed between black bloc and the bricks and pipes.

The more serious protesters that I mentioned in an earlier blog, were of course arrested. It appears that like the hurricane, Tampa and the RNC convention had a near miss with Occupy Wall St. Go Team!!

However, the DNC convention may not get as lucky. It is no secret that organized labor is quite literally pissed with the Democrats. EFCA, the Holy Grail of the union movement was a promise broken by democratic leaders and the unions have not forgotten or forgiven. They have no plans to sponsor the DNC convention with economic support although they will have a booth calle "Hugs for Union Thugs" in Charlotte. A union spokesman stated that the booth was to try to improve their image. I think it will take more than that. It is also no secret that OWS is a front for unions. Most of the money that supports the movement comes from various forms of organized labor. So about a half mile from the DNC convention site, OWS has already started to gather, a couple hundred in fact to give the DNC a taste of what the RNC has been experiencing. Fun times in Charlotte with no hurricane to save the day. The liberals are about to have their hand bitten by the dog they forgot to feed.

I can see the pros and cons for the protesters as to how serious the demonstrations will be. Is it just a warning to the Dems that their thugs in the organized labor movement want them to hear so they get back in line or could this be some serious chin music meant to grab the attention of the Democratic powerbrokers? We will soon find out.

On thing is for sure the AFL-CIO's super pac, Worker's Voice, has officially joined forces with George Soros' Moveon.org and that is a scary alliance. As of August 9, there has been 7369 arrests in 117 different cities. Also voter fraud is a possibility regardless of what the naysayers state as voter ID laws are being struck down one after another. You only have to look at Wisconsin and what the SEIU attempted with the three employees that were caught red handed trying to circumvent Wisconsin's voter laws. One only wonders if there were others that weren't caught. The three SEIU employees are being prosecuted.

With the importance of this election. We should be prepared for anything.

And while we are attempting to win the war, several battles are being fought all over the U.S. as labor goes on the offense. In Texas and Pennsylvannia, voter ID laws have been shot down by the Federal courts with what now appears to be battles that will be fought within the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court. This leaves me anxious as the once dependable Justice Roberts may not be as dependable as was once thought.

As was once warned after the voctory in Wisconsin, the small government advocates should be prepared to take on the chin in Michigan as the battle brews over a new admendment to their constitution. Big Labor has managed to get an initiative on the ballot for November that will guarantee public union bargaining rights within the state's constitution. As if that state does not have enough problems with business fleeing the rust belt in favor of the right to work bible belt. As it stands, 56% favor this admendment with 34% against. The other 10% are still trying to figure out what happened to Detroit. So far the Republican Governor seems to be on a deserted island as unions and Moveon.org plan on slamming this thru. If we can't summon a defense of Michigan we better damn well win in November. Lets look at our scorecard so far. Labor won in Ohio defeat Kasich's attempt to limit public employees collective bargaining power, Patriots won in Wisconsin, defending Scott Walkers right to stay, Patriots have lost in Arizona and Alabama on Immagration Laws. Labor will probably win in Michigan, putting in place a state constitutional admendment to protect big labors' stranglehold on public sector bargaining. Ohio saw early voting for military shot down as big labor flexed its muscle. California Prop 32 which eliminates campaign contributions from corporations and unions is being assualted by labor's California rank and file as they gear up their grassroots movement.

The Patriots have been noticably silent as they concentrate on winning primaries within the Republican party. Focus people. If Obama wins our victories won't be worth a damn as our star players are benched and the possibility exists for him to name possibly two new people to the Supreme Court. This is a war that can't be lost. If Obama retains his seat, I can promise you that labor will get the payoff they have been waiting for and Obamacare will be a permanent part of our lives and only God knows what else. Fair to say our country will be lost if he wins.

My husband's family fought in the revolutionary war, something he takes great pride in. I hope that someday, our progeny can say the same about us.

Comment by Ginger Lymbery on September 5, 2012 at 9:09am: What the states need to do is ignore the judges....hell, Obama ignores the laws on the books about marriage and illegal immigration (invasion)....so tell the judges to "stick it", go ahead and make people show ID's and then settle up AFTER the voting....if you have to have a photo ID to get into the DNC and be a legal citizen of the US to purchase any of Obama's crap ....then you should have an ID to vote....it would be even better if birth certificates were mandated. To hell with the judges....they are nothing but Obama's minions anyways and once we get control of this country back, we need to look at these judges for charges against their oath of offices and remove a bunch of them....use them as a sign that enough is enough.

Comment by Duke Yerman on September 5, 2012 at 7:55am: Quiet down here in the Tampa Bay area. 3 arrests....1 for some moron carrying a machete strapped to his leg (Monday), 1 regular type protestor who refused to remove his mask and the last was one protestor who stole cigarettes from another protestor. Low turnout of protestors was because many of the bus companies would not come here due to Isaac.

Chief Castor deserves a third star for the way she led the mixed law enforcement presence. And all the law enforcement folks need a big hearty thanks for their display of restraint and professionalism.
