Paul Ryan Proposed Budget Cuts

A List of Republican Budget Cuts

Notice Social Security and the military are NOT on this list.

These are all the programs that the new Republican House proposed the US Congress cut from its budget.  Take a deep breath, try to contain your outrage, and read to the end.

Author’s Response to “Tax Principles” Blog Comments

I am pleased so many of you have expressed your opinions about the four Principles Based Taxes papers I posted. Your comments have been both of concern and of great interest to me. I may have raised the blood pressure of many of you. For this I am concerned as I wish no one harm. I am certainly not upset by your (mostly negative) comments, since anything as emotional as “taxes” is bound to evoke strong feelings. Unfortunately, I do not have time to respond to…

New Business Taxes = U.S. Jobs and Economic Growth

Summary: Two new taxes are proposed to replace present business taxes. A small flat tax assures businesses pay for general benefits they receive from publically financed functions. A value added tax (VAT) that is zero or small for value added within the U.S. and higher for value added offshore will drive investments and jobs to the U.S. and keep U.S. businesses globally competitive.

Taxes and other costs, i.e., regulations, entitlement mandates,…

The Facts Hit The Ceiling

Since it’s the middle of January, most of the people who get a paycheck have noticed that it seems to be a little lighter than it used to be. Those who listened to and believed Barack Obama when he was telling everyone that he was only raising taxes on the rich must have been amazed to find that Dear Leader actually considered everyone getting a paycheck to be among the rich. I haven’t really refrained from saying I told you so to those Liberal supporters who were surprised by the…

National Defense vs Congressional Mood

This increasingly constrained budget environment is difficult for national defense.  It is especially difficult for the US Air Force.  Our allies depend upon US military technology to support their own national defense against common enemies.  Airmen spent the past 22 years engaged in multiple combat operations. …

Principles-Based U.S. Tax Systems

Political expediency to retain power and garner votes has resulted in 80,000+ pages of tax codes that exasperate our current national problems. Fixing the nation’s present fiscal mess will require tax changes and spending controls. New tax systems are proposed that are based on a long-term focused set of principles rather then short-term politics.

The federal government’s income is dominated by corporate income taxes (~15%), individual earned and capital gains income taxes (~50%), and…

The current events in Czechoslovakia known as the velvet revolution are identified as such because the Communists are handled there with velvet gloves.

This gang of rude, spiteful, lazy, cunning criminals seizing power over a state, fanatically persisting for 41 years in breaking down families,…

Quantitative Easing Affects All Of Us

Federal Reserve’s “Quantitate Easing (QE)” is simply money printing. Money is typically printed to accommodate an expanding economy. When money printing greatly exceeds economic growth, every dollar printed slashes (lowers) the value of existing dollars. Excessive printing is now being done to TEMPORARILY prop up our government and the stock market. …

Obama's “Tax The Rich” Mantra

President Obama’s stump speech to “tax the rich” is more rhetoric than facts. Let’s look at his statements and the facts before we all jump to the conclusion these taxes will fix our deficits/debt problems. He proposes to let expire the (Bush) tax cuts for those making over $250,000 per year. He claims these tax reductions:

  1. Have been a “major” contributor to…

Buying Jobs with Borrowed Money

Does borrowing and printing money to create jobs make sense? While it sounds like a simple question, the answer is not so simple. Let’s begin by looking at the job impacts of the 2010 and 2011 deficits, the Federal Reserve’s “money printing“ quantitative easing, and the proposed budget for 2012 to 2022 recently released by the Obama administration.

The deficits for 2010 and 2011 total $3 trillion. The Federal Reserve “money printed” was many trillions more starting in 2009. Average…

Army Border Security

CNS News reports that U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin has essentially thrown in the towel on efforts to completely seal the U.S.-Mexican border, saying that would require up to half a million troops.

Not so. An Army corps of two or three divisions (about 10 to 20,000 troops each) could effectively do it with static and roaming patrols, if they acted in conjunction with Border Patrol agents…

The grandest of all Washington, DC deceptions

The “debt ceiling cost-cutting” debate going on in DC right now is just the continuation of a monumental “shell game” charade that has been going on since 1974 when Baseline Budgeting was enacted by a democrat congress and a republican president.  It is so central to the financial disaster our country now faces that it has to go.

To explain how insidious the baseline budgeting craziness is take a look at the following scenario:

If the current congress and…

A NEW Election Process ... Votocracy?

Every day, more and more, people are voicing distrust in the over-sized and over powerful federal government.  Despite the constant propaganda war being fed to our minds through sit-coms, news, movies, music, and ads, people are still getting outraged.  As desperation sweeps the land more people are getting active, vocal, and down right angry.  I'm amazed at the side bar conversations I constantly over hear expressing total disgust in the oppressive taxation, the political corruption, and…

Obama’s America in Black & White

Obama is and always has been a hardened, bare-knuckled veteran of the culture wars, who not only pursues racial divisions among Americans for political gain but personifies the stark differences in political attitudes between whites and blacks. It was as obvious in 2008 as it is now that electing a man who describes a sermon containing the passage “white people’s greed runs a world in need” as the formative moment in his spiritual life would guarantee a period of unusual social bitterness…

Once Again, History Teaches A Lesson To The Unwary.

What we are witnessing is the inevitable and entirely predictable result of our intemperance in choosing the leadership of our country. We chose a man who had no discernible management training or experience whatsoever. We chose a man who had no track record for us to check. One who has spent (and is still spending) millions of dollars to keep hidden any record of his life, schooling or, for that matter, the very sparse resume he brings to the presidency with him.…

Goshen College Declares War on National Anthem

Officials at Goshen College, a Mennonite college in Indiana, have banned the use of the Star-Spangled Banner during sporting events. The reason school officials gave for the ban was that America’s National Anthem was deemed too violent. Specifically, according to Todd Starnes of FOX News, the school’s online fact sheet stated, “Historically, playing the national anthem has not been among Goshen College’s practices because of our Christ-centered core value of compassionate…
