Standing against big government and for the people!
UPDATE:
After reading the comments I see we were on the wrong track in the beginning.... a boycott will only play into the leftists agenda. Devising a plan to pressure Congress, the Federal Reserve, and Obama/Administration would do more to cause long term change.
Drill Here, affect taxes, tarifs, inflation etc...
Lets continue to brainstorm with this direction in mind...
If there is anything at all I have learned from the Tea Party conservatives, it's that they are a creative, hard working bunch! After reading over the 200 plus comments on the gas prices around the country I started thinking.... What can we do about this?
Mellie and I were discussing this when it came to us...
Going Galt on Gasoline Gauging!
The Challenge to PAN Members:
For those of you who do not know what going Galt is... here is a description from Wikipedia:
John Galt is a fictional character in Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged (1957). Although he does not appear in person until the last third of the novel, he is the subject of its often-repeated question "Who is John Galt?" and of the quest to discover the answer.
As the plot unfolds, Galt is acknowledged to be a creator, philosopher, and inventor who symbolizes the power and glory of the human mind. He serves as an idealistic counterpoint to the social and economic structure depicted in the novel. The depiction portrays a society based on oppressive bureaucratic functionaries and a culture that embraces stifling mediocrity and egalitarianism, which the novel associates with socialistic idealism. In the novel's ideology, the industrialists of America were a metaphorical Atlas of Greek mythology, holding up the Earth, whom Galt convinces to "shrug," by refusing to lend their productive genius to the regime any longer.
"The book’s hero, John Galt, also continues to live on," wrote journalist Harriet Rubin in a September 2007 article about the influence of Atlas Shrugged. Rubin mentions John Galt Solutions (a software company) and the John Galt Corporation (a demolition company) as examples of companies named after the character.[13]
The use of John Galt as a symbol in the context of political or social protest has taken root in some places. The phrase "going John Galt" or simply "going Galt" has been used[14] to refer to productive members of society cutting back on work in response to the projected increase in U.S. marginal tax rates, increased limits on tax deductions, and the use of tax revenues for causes they regard as immoral.[15] Some people who claimed to be "going John Galt" discussed their reasons on a PJTV program in March 2009.[16] "Who is John Galt?" signs were seen at Tea Party protests held in the United States and at banking protests in London in April 2009.[17] Ron Paul's American presidential campaign of 2008 included a play on the phrase, using "Who is Ron Paul?" on campaign t-shirts; his Congressional web site biography uses the same title.[18]
The name has also been used by bloggers,[19] and a book titled Dreams Come Due: Government and Economics As If Freedom Mattered, which argues for free market capitalism, was written under the pseudonym John Galt. Meanwhile, C. Jeffery Small, the founder of go-galt.org, has urged "patriots" to put the "fear of Galt" into members of Congress by burying their offices in copies of Atlas Shrugged.[20]

Patriots,
This will be our brainstorming discussion to come up with a specific plan to take our Going Galt on Gasoline Gauging viral and to the masses...
This is something that can and will have the ability to cross all partisanship aisles.... we are ALL affected by high gasoline prices/Inflation
The Challenge to PAN Members:
Devise a plan to pressure Congress, Obama, Federal reserve
Will you help? Will you brainstorm with us? Summer is around the corner and we must drive these prices down.

Permalink Reply by Steve Parr on April 15, 2011 at 6:56am Exxons profit margin is at 8.89%. How much can they “lower” their prices? In the words of the organizer and chief “under my plan, energy prices would necessarily skyrocket.” Obamas energy secretary Steven Chu said “we have to find a way to force the price of gas up so that Americans are paying the same price per gallon as Europeans.” FYI that price is about $8pr/gln
If an alien from outer space saw three engines (reciprocating piston, Wankel, and gas turbine) and was asked to choose which one was the most likely to be adopted, which one would the alien choose? Probably a gas turbine electric. If the alien was smart, it would reject the wankel because there is no way to cool the rotor without fuel ablation. Nissan found this out the hard way. The reciprocating piston would be rejected because it loses too much power through reciprocal motion and cannot maintain a constant torque over a wide range of speeds.
Most likely, the alien would reject all three in favor of a new principle we have not thought of. BTW, the automobile industry did a lot of research on the gas turbine engine but never got it right. That is probably because they did not know how to "think outside the box" like our foreign engineers are trained to do.
To me the ideal would be a small gas turbine, that drove a generator. The generator would recharge a battery pack, that would be used to drive in the hub electric motors.
It been My thoughts to organise a strike so to speek what if we could get 20% of the working fokes to not go to work or buy anything for 2, 3 or more days no gas no going out to eat just stay home dont go to work ( No taxs thouhgs days) . another thought was to get enough fokes to line up at say a dress right dress spaceing and suround Dc from uper border to southern then step acrossed the border in to dc at the same time with signs and broom handles like (this time a broom handle next time ? just a thought hope it is helpfull

Also try the quiz, I have read a LOT of Ayn Rand and even I have a hard time attributing the quotes to villains in Atlas Shrugged or actual politicians! Bear in mind that the novel was published in 1957!!!
